[Norton, KS] The Norton County Arts Council (NCAC) is hosting its 2nd show of the 2023 Underground Series at the Historic Heaton building located at 112 S Kansas Street starting at 6pm on February  18th. The second event of the  Underground Series will feature a gallery exhibit by Sally Brandon followed by live music by the Haymakers.

NCAC is proud to bring back the Underground Series, a winter music series featuring live music and art, to downtown Norton. Saturday, February 18th, an artist reception will begin at 6 pm with light appetizers and drinks on the main level of the Heaton building in the Gloria Nelson Cultural Arts Center. Attendees of the opening night reception will have the opportunity to meet Sally Brandon of Phillipsburg, KS,  and learn how she creates her fiber creations. Sally’s work has been featured in many art galleries and her “Joy” collection was recently showcased at the Kansas City Fashion Week. Sally has also been the artist in residence at the Dane G. Hansen museum.

Following the opening, attendees will then move to the basement level of the Heaton building at 7 pm to listen to live Americana/folk music by The Haymakers, of Wichita, KS.  Single tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/5694490. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door due to limited space capacity.

“Featuring beautiful mandolin and harmony vocals, Haymakers' upcoming album, Live at the Art Church showcases what Haymakers do best: entertaining their audiences as a jamming string-band. Haymakers music both traditional songs and original compositions incorporates a wide range of acoustic genres. With upright bass, guitar, harmonica and a superb mandolin section, their expertly performed blend of instruments is perfect for live settings, so the bands new live album fills the gap left by a pandemic-interrupted touring schedule”. - Americana UK
