Norton County Arts Council has held the annual arts and crafts fair for over 40 years and held numerous art walks, concerts, plays, and exhibits.

Our Projects

The Norton County Arts Council has strived to build upon its events by focusing on working with regional and local community organizations, businesses, and community members to enhance the culture and arts support in Norton County. Over the last year, the Norton County Arts Council has sponsored the Norton Public Library’s Art Club, the Community Puzzle Project, The Place In Between: Life in Norton County during the 2020 Pandemic project, and the Smithsonian’s traveling exhibit Crossroads: Change in Rural America.

Workshops

Workshops taught by area and regional artists not only provide an opportunity for the artist teaching to expand their impact but also an opportunity for the community to develop grassroots student artists.

Events

Norton County Arts Council holds annual arts and crafts fair and an annual art walk along with several concerts and plays.

Artist Development

During 2020, the arts council shifted gears to provide opportunities for artists to develop their skills while large events were put on hold. NCAC co-hosted along with the Main Street Arts Council the Express Artist Inc workshop for western Kansas sponsored by the Kansas Arts Commission. Additionally, the arts council applied for the Masterclass Grant and received 100 annual subscriptions to be given to artists, makers, and creatives in Norton County.

Humanities based Programs

NCAC has worked with Humanities Kansas on several humanities based projects ranging from the Crossroads: Change in Rural America to the Oral history project covering the impact of the 2020 pandemic on Norton County.
